18 ways to pass exams when you've got absolutely no time to revise
Every year, students worldwide repeat the same errors. "It's going to be different this time. I'm going to stay on top of everything, all my notes and never leave anything to the last minute." Of course, in reality that never happens. This is not a guide about how to be a more organised person - right now, you feel like you will never be able to look a calendar in the eye again. This is a lesson on last-minute, caffeine fuelled cramming.
1) Don't panic.Probably the most important thing to remember. It might be the most importantexamof your LIFE but you won't get anything done if you start running around like a headless chicken.
2) Find a suitable place to workYour desk, the kitchen table, the library, a cafe, but wherever works for you and be prepared tostay there. Stay away from your bed, however as it will increase the likelihood of accidental napping.
3) Be preparedAssemble your resources - paper, notes, water bottle. Don't worry if you can't find your favourite pen. This is crunch time. Make do with the pink highlighter if you have to
4)Get rid of fun distractionsDo what you have to make yourself concentrate. Put your phone in another room. Turn off the Wifi. Work on paper. If you need to fact check something online, start a list to lookup later.
5) Make a planYou haven't got time to cover everything so pick a few areas to revise and tick them off a list. You won't get 100% but it's better than onlyknowing one fact about every topic.
6) Time managementYou've broken your work up, now do the same with your time. Try to work in 25 minute blocks, with a five minute break at the end. If you knowthere's a topic you find tricky allow yourself more time to go over it.
7) Actually start workHarder than it seems, this. Really MAKE yourself do it.8) Don't get frustrated - prioritiseIf you get stuck, don't stress. Make a note and you can come back to it later (if there's time).
9) Allow for (and accept) some procrastinationProcrastination happens. It's ok! Don't beat yourself up. Just get straight back to work and don't let it throw you off.
10) STUDY BREAK TIMETurn upBeyonceand have a quick dance. Allow yourself a whole three minutes to scroll through Instagram. Stroke yourcat. But when those minutes are up, force yourself to get back to it. Be strong!
11) Snacks and foodYour brain needs food to LIVE and LEARN! If you're staying up all night have something substantial and quick: cheese on toast, baked beans, Pot Noodle. Sip on some water whilst working to keep hydrated. If you start feeling jittery from all those espressos, STOP DRINKING THEM.Make an effort to eat something proper just before the exam.
12) Speak to another human beingEven if it's just your mum. Don't start feeling like the walls are closing in around you. A quick phone call will remind you that there is life outside exams and that soon you will be back in the world of the living.
13) Sleep...It's 4am. Sleep is for the weak, right? WRONG. You will perform much, much better the next day if you brain has had a chance to rest and process the information you've thrown at it.
14) ...but make sure you wake up againGet your morning-person friend to call you. Set your least favourite song as your alarm. Once you're up, try to get stay alert. Take a cooler shower than you normally would, stick your head out the window to get some fresh air and make sure you have breakfast.
15) Look over your notesLook over your notes on the bus or whisper formulae to yourself as your walk to the exam hall.
16) Don't panic in the examBREATHE. And then smash that exam like the amazing human you are. Read everything through carefully and tackle the problems you know best or are worth the most points first. Keep an eye on the clock and make sure you'renot spending too much time on one section.
17) Celebrate!Yay, you did it! Try not to think about the exam -obsessing won't help anyone. Go out for dinner, cry on a friend's shoulder or go to thepub.
18) Remember to never, ever leave things to the last minute againYeah, that's not going to happen.

His surprising lifestyle was uncovered after a bomb was found inside the prison and police poured into the institution to.
They found a three-room apartment complete with air conditioning, tiled walls, a DVD collection including a TV series about drug lord Pablo Escobar, a guitar, and several footballs.
In one cupboard police found six pairs of shoes, while in another were scores of T-shirts hanging on racks.

Flood kills 14 wedding guests
“Dead bodies of 14 people had been retrieved, most of those killed and wounded were women and children,” Rahimullah Mehsud, a local government official of Khyber tribal district, where the incident took place, told AFP.
The accident happened when a pick-up truck carrying the groom’s party of more than 20 people was hit by floods in a remote village of Khyber, one of Pakistan’s seven tribal districts bordering Afghanistan.
Mehsud said a search was ongoing for the missing but rescue workers and residents were facing difficulties as the “area is remote and mountainous”.
He added: “We have no exact number of those travelling in the Datsun pick-up but residents told us there were more than 20.”
The heavy monsoon rains began earlier this month, drenching the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and central Punjab provinces, which have been badly affected by flooding in recent years that some scientists have linked to climate change.

Nigerian set ablaze in Togo for refusing to take responsibility for girlfriend's pregnancy
I woke up with tears all over my eyes this morning as i heard about the Nigerian business man who was set ablaze in Togo for refusing to take responsibility for his girlfriend's pregnancy. Please lets pull strings together and make sure that this Nigerian does not die for nothing.
What is the Nigerian Ambassador to Togo doing about this? This is an height of brutality and cruelty. Are there not civil rights activists in our country that could come in?. Are thrre no law enforcement enforcement agencies in Togo? What has been done to those savages.
God help Africa. God help Nigerians.

Six-year-old kills housemaid in Abia
A six-year-old boy has erroneously killed a housemaid with the gun of his father in Aba, Abia State.
Police detectives from the Ogbor Hill Police Division, Aba, have commenced investigations into the killing.
It was gathered that the underage child reportedly picked the father’s gun from his bedroom, thinking that it was a toy gun and not knowing that it was loaded.
A source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said, “The child pointed the gun at the maid and playfully said, ‘I will kill you,’ and upon pulling the trigger, the gun went off and a bullet hit the housemaid.”
The Police Public Relations Officer, Abia State Command, ASP Ogbonnaya Nta, confirmed the homicide case.
The case was said to have been transferred to the state Department of Criminal Investigation.
Meanwhile, the Medical Director of Abia State Polytechnic, Aba, Dr. Eze Nwokocha, has reportedly been kidnapped by some gunmen in Aba, the commercial hub of the state.
The medical practitioner was allegedly abducted at about 7pm on Sunday around Allwell Crescent, near the Aba Fire Service Station.
A source close to the medical director said he was returning to his house after attending a village meeting when the assailants, who had trailed him, blocked his car and took him away in another vehicle.
It was gathered that the suspects had contacted the family and demanded a ransom of N50m.
The victim’s family members could not be reached for comments as of the time of filing this report.
The PPRO said the kidnap case had yet to be reported to the police.

Ijebu-Igbo on fire: Two killed in Police-Cult clash
The police officer allegedly shot a man suspected to be a member of a confratanity and a woman who was also at a restaurant beside Total Filling Station.
According to eye witness account, some policemen traced the suspected cult member to the restaurant and opened fire on him while he was eating. In the process, the police shot an innocent woman who was also at the scene.
Reports have it that the woman died on the spot while the police officers fled the scene.
This incident aggravated the members of the affected cult group who teamed up and headed for the Topon Divisional Police station. They demanded for the officer that killed their member but to no avail.
There are however speculations that Topon police station and Elere police station in Oke Agbo were set ablaze by the aggrieved confraternity. This has not yet been confirmed at the time of compiling this report.
At about 12 noon, law enforcement agents were seen arresting and parading people suspected to have involved in the clash.
Senator Buruji Kashamu representing Ogun East Senatorial District, had a peace talk with the two factions.
According to an indigene of the community “ it was the officers that wanted to start another problem in the town because after senator had talked to them things changed, there was nothing like crisis.”
Does that mean that the peace experienced in the town after the peace talk with the two fractions will be sustained? Only time will tell

Shocking things you do that shorten your lifespan
The devil you know is better than the angel you don’t know. Living a long and healthy life is something we all crave for; unfortunately we are only able to ward off the obvious enemies affecting our wellbeing. What about those killer-habits in disguise that we constantly indulge in everyday? Knowing this does not necessarily mean we have to eliminate those behaviors outrightly, it is a pointer to the fact that overdoing things could be detrimental to our wholesomeness. This article enlightens you on
everyday habits that potentially shorten your lifespan:
1. Sitting too much: You may be sitting comfortably reading this article now, after this, then another and so on until you have sat for stretched period of time. Did you know that British Medical Journal’s publication of an Australian researcher found out that sitting at a stretch of 3 hours per day could cut short your lifespan by 2 years? Even regular exercise cannot prevent the potential negative effects of sitting for long hours. The negative effects of sitting too much seem to overlap with the potential negative effects of watching TV for long hours. Time to stand up for a stroll, play, jog. Anything.
2. Horrible colleagues: People who unfortunately find themselves in a working environment where there is no tranquility have a high propensity of a shortened life span. Researchers at Tel Aviv University found out that people’s co-workers have a significant bearing on their wellbeing. Having welcoming and caring colleagues can help in lowering stress levels, reduction in blood pressure and faster detoxification of cholesterol. These negative effects are common in subjects between the ages of 38 and 43.
3. Eating junk food: I am sure this sounds threatening; we still fall into the ditch of eating junks. Perhaps you must have come by this saying: you are what you eat! According to research carried out by University of Washington Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation, people that daily rely on junk food die 7 years earlier than those that eat balanced diet.
4. Not sleeping moderately: having moderate sleep is highly essential in having good health. The more closed eyed you get, the healthier you are right? NO, it is a blunt lie. Harvard Medical School has researched that life expectancy decreases in subjects sleep less than 5 or more than 9 hours per night. Chronic cases of sleeplessness are associated with diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, memory problems, cancers weight gain and premature death. Therefore to function optimally you need average of 8 hours sleep per night.
5. Flying: Taking time-outs to holiday locations is unarguably a stress eradicating step. But on the other hand, travelling through the air could be categorically bad for your health. The Association of Flight Attendants has proven that people that have careers in the aviation industry are more at risk of dying from cancer. Robert Parish, a physicist studied that when you reach an average cruising altitude of 39000 feets in a plane, you are subject to 64 times more radiation than at sea level because of cosmic rays which could affect your wellbeing overtime.
6. Weak social connection: People with puckered brow are found to die at a much higher rate than their socially inclined counterparts. A research carried out by Bringham Young University and University of North Carolina found out that prolong loneliness could be as harmful to your lifespan as smocking 15 cigarettes a day. I am sure your heart bounced at that fact. Another study carried out by Sven Svebak at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology discovered that people with the high sense of humour were 35 percent more likely to live longer than their other counterparts who struggled to smile. It is time to kick off stress, immune problem and stagnant blood flow by maintaining a smiley face.
7. Not working: remaining unemployed can cut short a person’s life span by 63%. This finding was carried out by Canadian researcher who analyzed 40 years of data from 20 million people in 15 countries. Shell Health Services as well carried out a research discovering that people who retired at the age of 55 died earlier than those who retired at 65. By missing out in the usual daily activities, the body gradually gets weak such people are walking closer to their death. Don’t be idle, get something doing.
8. Eating junk food: According to research carried out by University of Washington Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation, people that daily rely on junk food die 7 years earlier than those that eat balanced diet
9. Thanatophobia: When the abstract reality of death overshadows your thoughts, it potentially ends up causing a shortened lifespan. US National Library of Medicine found out that “life expectancy was perceived as shortened in patients with death anxiety”. This psychological problem is what makes cancer and HIV patients die earlier. Outside of this, an increase in fear of death increases the risk of cardiovascular ailments.
Cybercrime: Any solution in sight?
As the world is being reduced to a global village, cybercrime has since taken a different dimension. Cybercrime is a type of offence committed by cybercriminals who use the computer as a tool and the internet as a pathway to commit vices such as: Cyber-fraud, popularly referred to as ‘yahoo-yahoo’, illegal downloading of files (videos and music), Spam mailing: which is sending a phony e-mail in order to steal somebody’s private information and hacking a protected website, dissemination of pornography, data diddling, impersonation, web jacking, cyber defamation and forgery.
Over time, different countries have come up with diverse strategies to contend with crime depending on their nature and extent. One thing is certain- a nation with high crime rate cannot develop. It is appalling to see people take advantage of the blessing accrued to mankind-Internet, and turn it to a curse.
Questions like “how did money disappear from my bank account? Who logged in to my e-mail? How did the plan leak out of the company website?” and the likes have been recurrent for several years. Crimes like rape, armed robbery and money laundry need not necessarily be isolated from cybercrime as they all have equal consequences. For instance, wars have ensued where severe cases of cybercrime have ensued. When either individuals or organizations are the main target of cybercrime, their computers can be considered as the tool rather than the target. This crime requires less physical involvement as the damage done manifests itself in the real world. In this case, the victim’s carelessness may be his bait.
To tackle cybercrime effectively, it is highly imperative to establish active partnership between information security organizations, financial institutions, public organizations, private sectors and social media operators in order to enlighten them on the features of communication technologies liable to exploitation by cybercriminals. Also, improvement of security barrier within software packages and network structures would lead to improved security, keeping hackers at arm’s length. Parents could go a long way in preventing cybercrimes by advising their wards not to disclose personal details to strangers in the cyberspace as it could be dangerous. Organizations ought to hire individuals who are experts in computer security to supervise their content publication which will give them a secured environment in cyberspace.
Cybercrime is a growing concern throughout the world. Thus, research must continue to take place in order to keep the cyberspace as safe as possible and to keep it protected from ‘Yahoo boys’. The abuse of computer is a punishable offence before the law Therefore, the Computer Misuse Act (1990) could be principal to prosecuting an individual or organization that attempts to use the computer and the internet unlawfully.
The internet serves as a source of educational assistance to widen the horizon of students since no man is an island. The internet also serves as a form of entertainment. Hence the ‘edutainment’ role of the internet cannot be overemphasized; we should be on the alert for the dreadful social and economic effects of cybercrime. It is only through these that lasting solution can be proffered to this treat.
